The Benefits of Frankincense Essential Oil

The first time I heard of Frankincense was in the story about the birth of Jesus Christ. There were three "wise men" that studied the stars. There was one star that was unique and prophesied about. These men followed the star and when they found it they ended up in a manger where Jesus was born, surrounded by animals. The only place available for Mary to give birth was the Inn where the animals stayed. The three men each brought a gift for the child: Gold, Myrrh and Frankincense. These words had little meaning to me until I found out what Myrrh and Frankincense actually were.

Frankincense is a resin taken from trees and shrubs in Oman. For centuries people have used Frankincense for improving health and wellness. I particularly think it's awesome Jesus was given Frankincense and Myrrh because those are some of the safest essential oils that can be used on babies.

Here are some known uses for Frankincense:

Known Properties
- Anticatarrhal
- anticancer
- antidepressant
- anti-infectious
- anti-inflammatory
- antiseptic
- antitumor
- expectorant
- immune stimulant
- sedative

Frankincense has many uses. I use it in a blend that I apply to my thyroid. I also use it when I notice I may be getting sick. I have used it on the bottom of my feet to help with anxiety. I also use it in my homemade skincare products. I rub it on my stomach daily to help my skin because I gave birth a little over nine months ago. This is one of the oils I use on my daughter before/after vaccines. Frankincense has been very effective when I have used it to calm coughing. Here are some other common uses:

- Alzheimer's Disease
- Aneurysm
- Arthitis
- Cognitive function
- Brain Injury
- Breathing
- Cancer
- Coma

- Depression
- Immune system support
- Inflammation
- Infected wounds
- Vision problems
- Moles
- MRSA
- Uterus Tissue Rejuvenation
- PostPartum Depression

Frankincense affects emotional health, skin health and the Nervous and Immune system. When diffused it may help focus energy and improve concentration. Frankincense can be used aromatically, internally and topically on reflexology points. Children under six years old shouldn't take Frankincense internally.
