How To Use MYRRH Essential Oil

What is Myrrh?


Myrrh is the aromatic resin of a number of small, thorny tree species of the genus Commiphora, which is an essential oil termed an oleoresin. Myrrh resin is a natural gum. It has been used throughout history as a perfume, incense and medicine. It can also be ingested by mixing it with wine.
When a tree wound penetrates through the bark and into the sapwood, the tree bleeds a resin. Myrrh gum, like frankincense, is such a resin. When people harvest myrrh, they wound the trees repeatedly to bleed them of the gum. Myrrh gum is waxy, and coagulates quickly. After the harvest, the gum becomes hard and glossy. The gum is yellowish, and may be either clear or opaque. It darkens deeply as it ages, and white streaks emerge.

In order to extract the oil, Doterra uses steam distillation. The medicinal properties for Myrrh include:

Anti-infectious
Anti-inflammatory

Tonic

Primary Uses for Myrrh include:

Cancer, Chapped or cracked skin, Congestion, Dysentary, Gum Disease, Hashimoto's Disease, Hepatitis, Hypothyroidism, Infection, Liver Cirrhosis, Skin Ulcers, Stretch Marks, Ulcers, and Weeping Wounds

Historically Myrrh has been used for many uses over the decades. It has been used in religious ceremonies as well as to cure cancer, leprosy, and syphilis. The french have been known to use it for bronchitis, diarrhea, hyperthyroidism, ulcers and thrush.

Other Possible Uses Include:

Increasing appetite, asthma, athlete's foot, candida, coughs, eczema, digestion, flatulence, mouth ulcers, sore throats, gingivitis, hemorrhoids, wounds, and wrinkles.

When diffused Myrrh can promote awareness and be uplifting.

When used as directed, Myrrh can be used aromatically, topically and internally. I only recommend internal use by oils companies that are 100% certified and pure, such as Doterra. I cannot vouch for the purity of other companies.
